About the Book

According to the National Education Policy 2020 literacy and basic education will bring whole new world of personal, civic, economic and lifelong learning opportunities for individuals that enable them to progress personally and professionally.

The present volume is the outcome of the two days National Seminar on “Learning Beyond Alphabet: Challenges and Prospects in NEP 2020” organized by the Department of Adult Continuing Education and Extension, Manipur University under the aegis of ICSSR-NERC. It is believed that this book will help to equip people specially the adult to act as a catalyst to the promotion and advancement of various skill development activities in the state of Manipur in particular and the nation in general.

About the Editors

Sharmila Thingbaijam is currently working as Assistant Professor (S-2) in the Department of Adult Continuing Education and Extension, Manipur University. She has completed her M.A. and Ph.D in Adult Education. Her areas of interest are Andragogy, Adult education Programme and lifelong learning.

Chanam Sonia Devi is currently working as Assistant Professor (S-3) in the Department of Adult Continuing Education and Extension, Manipur University. She completed her M.Sc (Zoology) from Banglore University, MA (Adult Education), B.Ed and Ph.D in Adult Education from Manipur University. Her areas of interest are Extension Education and Continuing Education and lifelong learning.

Thounaojam Ruhichand Singh (B.A., MLISc, Ph.D., UGC-NET and JRF) is currently working as Assistant Professor (S-2) in the Department of Umanglai Haraoba, Manipur University of Culture, Imphal, Manipur.  He has to his credit 5 books. There are more than 30 research papers to his credit. His areas of interest are cultural education and documentation of traditional knowledge.

Ingudam Yaipharemba Singh is an Assistant Professor (S-2), Head (i/c) in Manipur University's Department of National Security Studies in Imphal, Manipur. His research interests include conflict resolution, non-traditional security paradigms, and borderland politics of the northeast. He holds a PhD and an MA from the Department of Defence & National Security Studies at Panjab University in Chandigarh.
